hello from Samburu

We have been most impressed with the service at these resorts here. \you are welcomed with juice and a towel for washing the dust off as you arrive. There are numbers of people just waiting to carry your luggage to your room and the rooms have been great!
\jim and kathy say hi along with myself and my wife. \\we saw all sorts of animals already and it has been nice and comfortable weather wise.

Jambo ya'll,

Kathy and I are excited and are ready to go...well, almost. Lots of rain and tornadoes here in Cincinnati but 'tis the season. We'll be blowing in to Chicago.

Jim and Kathy Stack

I thought I should try to email a blog just as a test before we arrived in Africa.

I have heard from both Brother Michael and Brother Francis. They both indicated that everything is ready and waiting. If it is, it is the will of God, if it isn’t hakuna matata! Everything will somehow work out.

Yesterday was the Feast of St. Charles Lwanga and companions, martyrs. The district of the Brothers we will be visiting is named in honor of Lwanga and celebrates his patronage. June 1st was Madaraka day, the celebration of Kenyan self-rule. A lot of speeches, but after this year’s elections it probably took on new significance.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Chicago on Friday.

Cool Weather

Now that the summer has arrived in full here in Memphis we have been having mid-90's during the day and tonight's low is supposed to be 80. The humidity is quite high as usual. That cool weather comment sounds wonderful from here.

Hopefully, the malaria pills won't cause any weird reactions for anyone!

We're looking forward to meeting you all in Chicago.

Packing fun...NOT

I am trying to follow all my own rules. I packed over the weekend and zipped up my suitcase and told myself I wasn't going to add anything else. Then I went shopping yesterday...and am adding stuff, which I am sure I don't need. I will be fine once I get to Chicago and give you all your own travel books.

Marlene, sorry about your wrist. At least you have your whole family along to help. I hope Paul reads this! I purchased my 100% DEET spray in a sporting goods department, I think at Wal-Mart. Make sure you test it first. One year I bought a brand that really burned.

I have been checking the weather in Kenya. It seems pretty cool to me. So don't forget to pack something with long sleeves. They were still reporting rain in some areas, which will make this all very interesting. But we have a lot of people to push if need be!

See you on Friday.

Kenya here we come!

Hello,
We are getting a little excited about having all the right stuff for the trip. I am relooking at me clothes due to the cast I just got put on my right arm today, I am not sure about pants with zippers and tee shirts. What kind of bug spray did everyone find? We have not found anything with as much deet as br churck said. I should be able to drive tomorrow and I will look again. See you all on Friday in Chicago!!!!
